Botanic Transect Between east and west of Nahuel Huapi National Park Seven Days Tour 2º Day: The tour starts in San Carlos de Bariloche, from where we are taken to Puerto Pañuelos. We sail across the impressive Nahuel Huapi Lake on a ferryboat and we get to Port Blest, a designated wilderness area on the western part of the park. We explore the exuberant vegetation typical of Valdivian Andean Forest, characterized by coihues (Nothofagus dombeyi), female Mañu (Saxegothaea conspicua), Laurel (Laureliopsis philippiana) and palo santo (Dasyphyllum diacanthoides), among other species. We return to Bariloche at sunset, where we spend the night. 3º Day: Free. Optional activities are offered. 4º Day: An early start. We head for the eastern part of Nahuel Huapi National Reserve, where there is a small
sample of Subandean District of the Patagonian
steppe. 5º Day: We are driven from San Carlos de Bariloche to Chall-Huaco Valley, in Nahuel Huapi National Reserve, where we will be able to study the deciduous lengas forest (Nothofagus pumilio) and the shrub community that these trees form on the timberline. There are interpretative trails along the forest and the High Andean zone and we will study the typical community of the northern and western slopes of the mountain. We spend the night at a mountain lodge. 6º Day: We walk up Mount Chall-Huaco to study high andean flora and the typical communities of the eastern slopes and the tops. We sleep at the mountain lodge or back in the city, as the group prefers. 7º Day: Free. Optional activities.
